bring in any spray of any kind (deodorant, perfume, insect spray or repellant,
air freshener etc.) Anything of this nature will be confiscated and given back
to the resident once the program has been completed.
Strictly roll - on deodorants (alcohol free) can
be used.
You may bring your own personal toiletries
with you, and they will be searched. Whatever is not allowed will be
confiscated and given back to the resident once her program ends. All
toiletries after the initial admission must be purchased from Spar, nothing is
to be brought in by family members. A basic starter kit and stationary pack
will also be given to the resident.
Make – up is allowed on admission and will be
thoroughly searched before given to the resident. Please try your best to limit
the quantity. Nail Polish and Nail Polish remover is allowed on admission and
will be used under supervision on a Friday afternoon. This will also be
thoroughly searched and kept in a safe place. Face Creams and face washes are
allowed, these will be thoroughly searched on admission and once they are
finished, must be purchased from Spar or the tuck shop. Razors will be kept by
a leader and given out to be used when requested. Hair remover is probably a
better option.
Please bring your own towel, face
cloth and or loofa / sponge
Please bring enough sanitary
items with you - in closed sealed packets
Valuables
Please do not bring any valuables
such as cell phones, iPad’s, laptops etc. as these will be confiscated. They
may not be used at all under any circumstances. Phone calls are to be made off
the center phones or supervised by the addiction counselor. Ladies who have
children are permitted to phone their children once a week, supervised by a
counsellor.
Believe me, it is a blessing not
to have a phone.
Stationary
Please bring your own: (If you
can, this is not compulsory, but it will make life easier)
Bible (A Recovery Orientated Bible would be
first prize)
File for Step Work & Notes
Exam Pad
Hard Cover A4 Book for journaling
Pens
Colored Pencils
General Stationary
Coloring in books, beading,
knitting, crochet, or anything in this line will be allowed
If you like to read, please bring
your books
Dress Code
Please be comfortable in your
clothing. This is a farm environment so fancy clothing is not needed. Appropriate
dress is acceptable, you will be asked to change if you are not dressed
properly.
Please follow this guideline
and all will be well 😊
No exposure of stomach, back,
breasts or shoulders. Dresses are fine if they are not too short. Flat shoes,
sandals, takkies and pumps are acceptable. High heels are not practical in this
environment at all unless you would like to dress up for an event.
What is going to make your
transition better for you?
It is going to take you a certain
amount of time to settle in. Make up your mind now to push through and to focus
on your recovery. Also, it is important to remember that this is a
rehabilitation center and not a hospital. The environment is not a clinical one.
We are on a farm and this is a working program.
If you would like to bring your
own bedding, please do so, please bring photos of your family and whatever is
going to make you feel comfortable in your immediate surroundings. Bring a few
items of groceries with you like coffee, tea, sugar, milk, cigarettes, snacks,
and sweets etc, to last you for about a week or until you can order from the
tuck shop.
Deposit on Admission
A deposit of R 3750.00 is
required on admission (this is for medical monies, bedding deposit, starter
pack, psychometric tests and first month's recreation) Tuck shop money can be
added to this amount and is at the supporters own discression. I suggest a
weekly budget for tuck shop and cigarettes must be established beforehand to
avoid over - spending and any arguments.
There will be a monthly deduction
of R150.00 for recreation.
Psychiatrist and Psychologist
Our psychologist is on site, if
you would like to see her over and above your addiction counselor you are
welcome to do so. Only certain medical aids will cover the costs of this if
they don't it will be for your own expense. Our psychiatrist comes in every
Friday. If you would like to see him, the cost is R750.00 (If you are not on
medical aid) Medication will be for your own expense if not covered by the
medical aid.
